¿Qué deben hacer quienes hayan viajado a México?
El periodo de incubación de la gripe porcina es de diez días, por lo que los expertos recomiendan permanecer vigilantes a los síntomas de la gripe clásica y acudir al médico en cuanto aparezcan.

The death of the King

How could he die so suddenly? How could this man, who once was a shiny light of creativity, talent and energy simply... leave? No warnings, no obstacles, no goodbyes. A king has died, and the whole world knows it.

He had problems, for sure. Who doesn't? Like many geniuses, he was tormented. I'm not sure about those horrible accusations involving pedophilia, all the circumstances and his huge sum of money make everything difficult to be understood. You can't just say "he's a pedophile" when the accusers have so much to earn with a simple accusation. But Jacky was troubled, for sure.

He'd had a difficult childhood. He started singing and dancing very very young. Do you remember how young he was during the pinnacle of Jacksons 5?

Oh, baby give me one more chance
(show you that I love you)
Won't you please let me
(back in your heart)
Oh darlin' I was blind to let you go
(let you go baby)
But now since I see you in his arms
I want you back, I want you back.

Unlikely other pop "singers", who don't compose nor create and are merely attractive bodies with an ordinary talent, Michael was a complete artist. He had a fantastic voice and could sing very well, he was a great dancer and he could even act in a fair way, because he was very expressive. Surrounded by great actors, he didn't even seem an amateur most of the times.

"You rock my world" by Michael Jackson feat. Marlon Brando and Chris Tuker (Click on the link, I couldn't embed it).

I always wished that someday he would be fine. He was still young, he could record a new CD with a brand new style and show everyone that, yes, he was still The Michael Jackson. I always hoped to see his energy and creativity again. He didn't have to end up like he did, he deserved to be admired. He deserved to be normal. But it's all over now. The king has gone to shine elsewhere, so it's not a surprise that I feel like a star has faded in my sky.

Michael, you'll always be in my heart. Rest in peace, dear.

Feeling sad,
Teacher Bel :(

If I had my life to live over...

My students from Inter 6 (Rafael, Sarah and Wisner), inspired by an american poem, wrote this one:

If I had my life to live over..

I would enjoy more and love less
I would have many children
I would travel around the world
I would spend more time with my family
I would call my friends more often
I would go to the beach and watch more sunsets
I would like to see more honest and generous people
I wouldn't mind about my problems
One day I would eat just chocolate all day long...
I would live the moments like they were the last ones
Iwould buy strange clothes and wear them to go to strange parties
Iwould lie to my boss and go to the beach
Iwould be more adventurous
I wouldn't get married
Iwould spend lots of money on silly things
Iwould work less
I would go to more natural places
I would enjoy nature
I would always say the truth to my parents and wouldn't be afraid of telling the truth
I would practice more sports
I would be a better student
I wouldn't complain about my life and I would definitely be happier
I would write a book about my life!

What does UNCLE SAM mean?

Uncle Sam Recruiting Poster
The image above presents a rousing illustration of the venerable "Uncle Sam", as he appeared in a World War I Army Recruiting poster. We will examine how this popular image came about, and how "Uncle Sam" became the popular symbol of the United States.
Uncle Sam, is a popular name for the government of the United States. Its origin was as follows: Samuel Wilson, commonly called "Uncle Sam," was an inspector of beef and pork, in Troy, N. Y. He inspected the meat purchased for the government after the declaration of war against England in 1812. A contractor named Elbert Anderson purchased a quantity of provisions, and the barrels were marked "E. A.," the initials of his name, and "U. S.," for United States. The latter initials were not familiar to Wilson's workmen, who inquired what they meant. A facetious fellow answered, "I don't know, unless they mean 'Uncle Sam.' " A vast amount of property afterwards passed through Wilson's hands, marked in the same way, and he was rallied on the extent of his possessions. The joke spread, and it was not long before the initials of the United States were regarded as "Uncle Sam," which name has been in popular parlance ever since. Even a popular song says: "Uncle Sam is rich enough to give us all a farm."

Even a popular song says: "Uncle Sam is rich enough to give us all a farm."

Prior to the Civil War, Brother Jonathan Was the Popular Icon of the United States
So, by 1820, Uncle Sam was sometimes used as a term for the United States. The popular image of Uncle Sam did not emerge until some time later. In fact, prior to the Civil War, another character was much more commonly used as a symbol for our country; Brother Jonathan. The Cartoon above is from an original 1862 Harper's Weekly newspaper. The cartoon deals with the controversial Trent Affair, in which US naval officers boarded a British Ship, and arrested Confederate Commissioners Mason and Slidell. In the cartoon, the figure representing the United States is Brother Jonathan. It can be seen that Brother Jonathan has many of the features we have come to associate with Uncle Sam . . . striped pants, a coat with tails, and a tall top hat. At the start of the Civil War, Brother Jonathan was almost always used as the symbol of the United States.

To the left we present one of the first ever published images of Uncle Sam. Again, he is dressed in patriotic attire, with stars on his hat, and stripes on his shirt. The image is a cartoon from the December 21, 1861 edition of Harper's Weekly. The cartoon is captioned, "Chief Cook CAMERON divides the VIRGINIA GOOSE between MARYLAND and DELAWARE. " This cartoon appeared shortly after the start of the Civil War, and is dealing with the issue of Virginia being split into two states.
By 1864, Uncle Sam had become the more pervasive symbol of the United States in newspapers and other publications, as Brother Jonathan gradually faded away.
Our popular image of Uncle Sam (As seen in the image on the top of this page) was defined in large part by Thomas Nast, who was one of the most popular artists of the 1800's. Nast was also responsible for our popular images of Santa Claus, the Republican Elephant, and the Democratic Donkey. Nast's first illustration of Uncle Sam appeared in the November 20, 1869 edition of Harper's Weekly.

While Uncle Sam does not show the top hat and striped pants that we have come to associate with him, he shows something much more important in this image. In this image, Uncle Sam is a symbol of unity and equality. The image shows many people welcomed at Uncle Sam's Thanksgiving table . . . Black, White, Chinese, and Indian, as wall as many others are seen sitting around the table. The image is captioned, "Uncle Sam's Thanksgiving Dinner; Come One, Come All, Free and Equal." The image clearly shows that Uncle Sam was originally a symbol of freedom, and equality. Uncle Sam was a unifying symbol.

By 1876, Nast's Image of Uncle Sam had evolved into one that we would recognize today. The image to the left is the cover of the November 24, 1876 Harper's Weekly. The image features Uncle Sam with striped pants, a long overcoat, and a top hat. In this image, the top hat also has feathers. This image deals with Reform of the Civil Service System.
While the exact image of Uncle Sam has evolved over the years, one thing remains constant. He is a symbol of the best ideals of the United States. From the earliest days until today, he has stood for Freedom, Equality, and Justice. While as a Nation, we do not always perfectly achieve these ideals, Uncle Sam remains a poignant symbol and reminder of the goal and objective . . . One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.

Cruising
Author: Sharon Froese
We're off on a cruise
Far far away
Off to Alaska
For a holiday
A family reunion -
Every sister and brother
We even brought along
Our father and mother
On the high open sea
We'll rest and relax
With the sun brightly shining
And tanning our backs
We're cruising to Alaska
To see what we see
We're off to Alaska
Out on the big sea

Here's a little poem on Vacation!!!! Since I bet you're all counting the days already!

Aserejé (Las Ketchup)

Mira lo que se avecina
A la vuelta de la esquina
Viene Diego rumbeando.
Con la luna en las pupilas
Y su traje agua marina
Parece de contrabando.
Y donde más no cabe un alma
Allí se mete a darse caña
Poseído por el ritmo ragatanga.

Y el dj que lo conoce
Toca el himno de las doce
Para Diego la canción más deseada
Y la baila, y la goza y la canta...

Aserejé, ja deje dejebe tude jebere
Sebiunouba majabi an de bugui an de buididipí (x3)

No es cosa de brujería
Que lo encuentre tos los días
Por donde voy caminando.
Diego tiene chulería
Y ese punto de alegría
Rastafari afrogitano
Y donde más no cabe un alma
Allí se mete a darse caña
Poseído por el ritmo ragatanga.

Y el dj que lo conoce
Toca el himno de las doce
Para Diego la canción más deseada
Y la baila, y la goza y la canta...

Aserejé, ja deje dejebe tude jebere
Sebiunouba majabi an de bugui an de buididipí (x3)

Nickelback - Savin' Me

"Savin' Me"

Prison gates won't open up for me
On these hands and knees I'm crawlin'
Oh, I reach for you
Well I'm terrified of these four walls
These iron bars can't hold my soul in
All I need is you
Come please I'm callin'
And oh I scream for you
Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin'

[Chorus:]
Show me what it's like
To be the last one standing
And teach me wrong from right
And I'll show you what I can be
Say it for me
Say it to me
And I'll leave this life behind me
Say it if it's worth saving me

Heaven's gates won't open up for me
With these broken wings I'm fallin'
And all I see is you
These city walls ain't got no love for me
I'm on the ledge of the eighteenth story
And oh I scream for you
Come please I'm callin'
And all I need from you
Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin'

[Chorus]

Hurry I'm fallin'

All I need is you
Come please I'm callin'
And oh, I scream for you
Hurry I'm fallin', I'm fallin', I'm fallin'

[Chorus]

Hurry I'm fallin'

Let's talk about size (:

How big are the objects floating in our universe, and how big can they get?
Watch this great video and find out.

No, you're not the center of the universe.

I loved this video cause it makes us think of how fragile and insignificant is the mankind and yet so strong and meaningful for us, in our tiny and brief existence.
In this darkness full of hypergiants of many colors, a pale blue dot is the only home we have.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arene.
(it's a shame I didn't find it with English subtitles)

I wish someday I had the opportunity to study astronomy. Planets, galaxies and distant worlds just freak me out! (:

Have a nice (and humble) week.

Funnybear - Cho Ka Ka O

Here are two funny quotes...

Friendship is like pissing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

Girls are like phones. We love to be held, talked too but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected!

Understand? :o)

SONG: Just a dream...

Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10, 1983) is an American country pop singer and songwriter. She rose to fame as the winner of the fourth season of American Idol, and has become a multi-platinum selling recording artist and a multiple Grammy Award winner.

"Just a Dream" is the fourth single released from Carrie Underwood's second studio album, Carnival Ride. The song was composed by Gordie Sampson, Steven McEwan and Hillary Lindsey. A video has been filmed for the song. The video has been released as of August 5, 2008. The song was officially released to radio on July 21, 2008.

The song chronicles an 18 year-old woman walking to the church in her wedding dress, with the listener believing she's going to her wedding. However, it is revealed as the song goes that she's going to her husband's funeral instead, who was a soldier killed in action. During the funeral, she wishes that everything going on at the moment is all "just a dream".

In December 2008, "Just A Dream" was named the best video of 2008 by CMT's Top 20 Countdown, and scored the number 2 position on
GAC's Top 50 Videos of 2008.

Hope you like it!

=)

Have a wonderful week!
