Last Saturday it was celebrated a special holiday: St. Patrick's Day... What do you know about it?

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, the saint's religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feast--on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.

The shamrock, which was also called the "seamroy" by the Celts, was a sacred plant in ancient Ireland because it symbolized the rebirth of spring. By the seventeenth century, the shamrock had become a symbol of emerging Irish nationalism. As the English began to seize Irish land and make laws against the use of the Irish language and the practice of Catholicism, many Irish began to wear the shamrock as a symbol of their pride in their heritage and their displeasure with English rule.

Inter 6 - News - WOMAN HIT BY COMET

Last night a woman saw something different hit her car. She was going home when she was scared by it. She went out of the car to see what had happened. People didn't understand anything. The police were called and solved the problem. The government is worried. Everybody thought that a comet had fallen from the sky that night.

Inter 6 - News - MOBILES BANNED IN CLASS

It was aproved by the principal of a public school in Catalão a rule that prohibits the entrance of cell phones in the class. The rule wasn't accepted by most students. They said that it's useful to access the internet during the break. On the other hand, the teachers aproved this rule because the class has been annoyed by the use of cell phones.

Inter 6 - News - DOG TAUGHT TO DRIVE

This morning in Catalão, a dog was seen driving a car in high speed on 20 de Agosto Avenue. People around didn't believe the scene and it was filmed and put on Google Videos. Unbelievably, later, other dogs were seen driving other cars because they were taught by the master dog through the internet.

Um ano após o tsunami no Japão

Minasan ohayougozaimasu!

Dia 11 de março de 2011, foi o dia da tragédia que comoveu o mundo. Após um terremoto com magnitude de 8,9 na escala Richter a costa nordeste do Japão gerou um tsunami que arrastou carros, embarcações e construções, enfim tudo que havia na frente.
Hoje depois de 1 ano, os serviços essenciais como as ruas, rodovias, pontes e abastecimentos já estão praticamente reconstruidos.
